Query concerning the purpose of this Wiki: One manufacturer I recently contacted has concerns that their minis being posted on here will be detrimental to business, despite the fact that a) they are old sculpts from a dead company and b) we've explicitly stated they are still in production (with a link to that manufacturer's site). The manufacturer feels that this would misrepresent their figs as out of production because the main page specifically states this site is for out of production minis. I've been looking to add the info about where these minis have gone so that someone looking for a mini can find them IN production and buy them again (hence my focus on Mega and Mirliton references on the Grenadiers and the eM4 and Mega on the Metal Magic figs). There's nothing more disheartening to a collector to find a mini here they really want, and yet have no lead as to where to purchase them. So I have two questions: would you consider modifying the purpose of the wiki to reflect this benign intent? "Lost" can mean simply that one has lost track of where it went. And if there is a problem with a manufacturer not wanting to participate, can we hide pages for members only, so that it's not publicly viewable, and in the membership application there is explicit agreement of understanding that such in-production hidden pages are only viewable by members for informational purposes? One of the neat things about the Wiki is that one can search for, say "cultist" and come up with a list of minis to look at and choose to collect. I only wish it worked somewhat like Google Images and come up with a gallery instead of text. It would make identification so much easier. ~ Mysticat
Errors found on Main Page:
eM-4 Miniatures (http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/index.html)(need other spelling pointer pages so search will work) From Doug at eM4: "Regarding how to write em4. I tend to use the style em4 in communication and daily use and I prefer it now. When we started the business, we used the eM-4 style which has evolved into eM4. We never used EM4 or Em4 - at least not intentionally... Let's say the official style is eM4." I want to create discombobulation pages for these other names, but we may have to redo the pages to change the name we gave it. I'll be busy for a few days and intent to come back to do this unless some kind soul beats me to it through admin power. I would probably have to transfer pages to new pages and ask for deletion of old pages later. Can't see any other way to do it from my end. BTW... the hyphen doesn't work well with making pages for some reason... I originally tried making eM-4, but it wouldn't let me. The current page for this company is not the same case name as on the Main page.
- You can't have page or category names that begin with a lowercase letter, so you can't get 'eM4'. This is a limiation of the wiki software. Category pages are different that regular pages and you cannot rename them (whereas regular pages can be moved which is effectively a rename). To 'move' a category to a new name you just need to recategorize all the pages to point at a different name, i.e. change the [[category:XXX]] annotations in the pages to point at the new name. This automatically creates the new category, then you just have to copy any content on the category page itself over from the old to the new, and have an admin update the main page to point at the new name.

There should be a link for Doppleganger USA, originator of the Whiskers & Tentacles line that references Black Cat Bases (who now owns W & T).
There should be a link for Strange Aeons that leads to Uncle Mike's Worldwide, as many refer to the line as the company (because the company so far really has only one line).
My Manufacturer's list at http://recipesrealm.com/wiki/index.php?title=Manufacturers_List will have the appropriate links soon, but query: Remind me how to make an internal link that goes to no such page yet...? I want this list to show at a glance what manufacturers already have a listing so I know which we need to add. The list should ideally and eventually have all internal and external links as well as current biz status and any change of ownership notes. Admin could use this list to update the Main Page, ready for future company entries. Isn't it less work to write a company intro than it is to find all the lines and create the pages then wait for admin to do the company page? ~Mysticat
- I'm not sure I understand the question about links to things that don't exist yet. You list already consists mostly of links to categories that don't yet exist. If you follow those links you will be prompted to create the category.
- Regarding the creation of a new category, the only thing that you need an admin to do is add the link to the category to the main page. You can create a new category, edit it, add pages to it, etc. Once you have a new category with content in it, post a note here to get it added to the main page table of contents.
